Call for Submissions
Gurukitty Studios is currently accepting submissions for a comic anthology.
Submissions are open to everyone with any style of comic art. This is a great chance for people who have works they would like published but don’t have the means or volume to produce it themselves. Gurukitty Studios has also been working on comics for many years and we have made a place for ourselves in the comics community. The anthology will be sold at conventions we attend and through our online shop. This will also give the artist an opportunity to have a book containing their work for them to sell as well.
Submission Guidelines:
Submissions must be sent to submissions@gurukitty.com
For review please send a smaller jpg version of the comic for the selection process, not they full print files. They can be sent via email as attachments or via a file upload such as yousendit.
-Submissions should be 4-15 pages
-Black and white (BITMAP mode NOT greyscale) fully lettered and ready to print
-File should be in PNG format, 300 DPI
-Final page size (if accepted) should be have a 4.5″x7″ Live area and the trim should be 5″x7.5″ with the total page size being 5.5″X7.75″ (digital template)
-If you have an existing short (comic) story that fits the theme it may be submitted as long as it has not been previously published in other anthologies.
-No hateful, racist or inappropriate content will be accepted.
-All submissions need to be rated PG13
-No Copyrighted characters, images or fonts must be used (see font FAQ below)

The theme is Ghost Tales
Any stories about haunting, ghosts, nightmares and horrors are welcome. It is an open theme so not all comics have to be scary, friendly ghosts and humorous comics are welcome, as long as they fit in the theme of ghosts, the rest is up to your imagination and talents.
We will be choosing 10-15 stories to include in the anthology to publish as a black and white graphic novel with colour cover.
Artists accepted for inclusion in the anthology will receive 2 free copies of the anthology as soon as it is published as well as the ability to purchase further issues at cost for resale.
Local (Vancouver, BC) artists will also be given the opportunity to come as guests with Gurukitty Studios to local conventions to do book signings when the anthology is published.
The anthology is available for artists to buy at cost for the purpose of resale.
As this anthology is more a collaborative artist project, artists do not receive a share of profits sold by other artists or Gurukitty studios sales. If you wish to gain some financial benefits for yourself you need to sell your own copies of the book and you will keep 100% of the profits of your own sales. However, Gurukitty Studios will promote the locations where artists are selling this anthology as well as artists online shops. Gurukitty Studios will cover all costs and labor for preparing the book for publication apart for individual comic submissions which need to be submitted in compliance to the technical specifications.
Artists will be required to sign a bit of paperwork (an agreement) giving Gurukitty Studios the right to publish your works with full details before we will print your works.

The artist chosen for the cover will receive an additional free book.
Cover file should be min 300 DPI, full colour and min 5.5″ X7.75″ (preferably larger) with no text or large signatures.
Deadline is August 15th, 2011 for submissions.
If you are still working on a comic and you are unable to finish the complete submission before the deadline, please contact us for further arrangements. If your comic is selected some additional time may be allotted.
Additional notes:
This anthology is going to be 5.5″X7.75″, perfect bound, in black and white with a full colour cover.
Teams or partnerships are welcome.
You may submit as many comics as you like but only be featured once.
Because we require you to sign a contract, you must be either over 18 years old, or have a legal guardian sign the contract if your submission is accepted.
